The Epilogue develops from the completed material of Just an Accident? op. 9 as an attempt to compress the musical material of the large piece into a miniature. The Epilogue expresses the will of life, the urge to keep fighting in times of uncertainty and easy dying. Two main elements alternate in this miniature in an abrupt manner: a nervously scurrying Prestissimo, and a wistfully lyrical and songlike Andante.
