In contrast to Amlin’s monolithic sixth sonata, PIANO SONATA NO. 7 unfolds in a traditional threemovement mold. The opening movement (Fantasia) introduces us to several shades of pianistic energy and poetry, the following movement (Lament) is a dramatic slow excursion, and the final movement is a 6-minute Scherzo and Fugue with a gigue-like gait.
