In the“Partita” BWV 997 (the customary work title“Suite” is stylistically problematic), Krause rejects the key of A minor, in which the work is normally found, preferring the compositionally more convincing B minor or, with capotasto, the original C minor. The multi-layered transmission often encountered in Bach's works is also used to good advantage: in the Fugue BWV 1000, Bach's own arrangement technique (for organ, in BWV 539) sometimes offers solutions surprisingly well suited to the guitar.
