Baksa has written numerous works for the harpsichord, and here pairs that keyboard with the oboe in a three-movement challenge for both. His Sonata is built in a standard A-B-A format, exploring the range and character of this unusual duo. The eminent harpsichordist Elaine Comparone and The Queen’s Chamber Band performed the premiere in June, 2011 at St. Mark's Church-in-the-Bowery (Manhattan).
