Matheson’s QUARTET for Oboe and Strings was composed in 2008, on a commission from Winsor Music, Inc. for Peggy Pearson. The 11-minute work was composed in Paris and in Brooklyn — it exhibits the driving intensity and energy of the latter, and the elegant textural beauty of the former.
