The seven-movement suite for wind band Hymn of the Highlands („Hymn of the Highlands“) was commissioned by David King and the Yorkshire Building Society Band. With a series of thematic movements, it lends itself to a concert theme highlighting a soloist from the orchestra. Flowerdale is one of these solo pieces, which is also available with piano accompaniment.
