An essential piece of educational literature has come out in its 17th edition. Selected and revised by Vilem Kurz, it offers small sonata forms of Classical style. Compositions, included in both volumes of Sonatinas and Rondos, are of versatile nature and are thus very rewarding piano pieces for pianists not only at the early stage of their studies. The first volume offers all six sonatinas op.36 by Muzio Clementi, selected sonatinas of opuses 55 and 20 by Friedrich Kuhlau and two sonatinas op.20 by Jan Ladislav Dusik. Technical and especially formal arrangement of each sonatina, as well as difficulty resulting from it, is growing with every higher number in each opus. Rondo by Dusik, named La Matinee, has been placed at the end of this volume.
