Zjitreny zpev (Excited Song) by the prominent composer of the Czech music modernism, Marek Kopelent, is a celebration of a song. For the solo baritone part, accompanied by a group of brass instruments, individual expressions from the poem by Josef Hora have been selected, which pin their faith on the word song as a symbol of a mother tongue. The piece was composed between 1982-83 on the occasion of a life anniversary of the singer from National Theater, Jindrich Jindrak, and it is also dedicated to him.
