In Georg Philipp Telemann’s work “Veni Sancte Spiritus” the emphasis is on songlike melodies and uncommon tone colouring. While the composer probably expected the entire work to be sung by soloists, in this version the outer movements are sung chorally, and may be supported instrumentally if so desired. Performance in this form does not contradict Telemann’s concept of his composition, but provides scope for emphasizing the varied elements of his sound picture.
