The text of I have had singing comes from an oral history collected in the small village of Akenfield, England. The same text is a fitting tribute to young Benjamin Kuylen, a singer with the New Orleans Children's Chorus, who died in an auto accident while still a teenager. Ben is remembered especially for his singing of “Pie Jesu” from Faure's Requiem.
