Commissioned by the Sacramento Symphony to be a contemporary American-sounding alternative to Britten’s guide to the instruments, BILLY AND THE CARNIVAL uses jazzrock-infused symphonic excitement to tell the story of a young boy who discovers musicians coming to his park to play a concert. Within the course of the story, every instrument is introduced by name followed by a characteristic solo. The companion coloring book illustrates the script and is a stand-alone educational tool with games and puzzles.
