Stage fright is not only annoying, but can also cause major problems when performing. Kato Havas explains the causes of stage fright and shows ways of overcoming it, always with a special focus on violin playing.
Kato Havas has also published the book 'Ein neuer Weg zum Violinspiel' (BOE3647), which presents a new approach to violin pedagogy (with a foreword by Y. Menuhin).
Kato Havas (born 05.11.1920) is a Hungarian violinist and violin teacher. Havas began playing the violin at the age of 5 and gave public performances as a child. She received her classical soloist training at the Budapest Academy of Music. Her American debut took place in 1939 at Carnegie Hall in New York and was followed by several tours. For personal reasons, she decided not to give any more concerts and devoted herself entirely to teaching and raising her

She began developing a new method at an early stage, which primarily dealt with the stress of performing and physical tension. She thought about why Hungarian gypsy violinists can play for nights on end without tension, with a smile and more virtuosity than themselves, without ever suffering from back pain or tendonitis.
The method focuses on the unity of body and mind, which is created through the coordination of body balance. It focuses primarily on body and bow posture. Her findings can be applied to all forms of music-making and to all age groups.
