Romantic modernist - or modern romanticist - Lars Karlsson (b. 1953) composed his Clarinet concerto (2013-2015) for Christoffer Sundqvist. Connections with Nordic mythology and clarinettist as a shaman turned to a more traditional concerto concept in three movements. Harmonic and melodic use of fourths and fifths forms an important basis for the musical material.
