Scent Dance II for solo viola is based on the version for cello written in 2010. The virtuoso work was inspired by Xuntian He's poem Passing by the Earth, in which the author asks about the meaning of life in the face of his finiteness. The version for viola solo was written on the occasion of the 20th Viola Space Festival in Tokyo 2011.
