The harp was brought to South America between 1500-1600. The arpa criolla is a completely different Instrument from the classical harp. It is smaller in size and is also tuned quite differently. Indio Figueredo was one of the central figures in the development of this Instrument and he has left a tremendous wealth of creativity in both his compositions and also the traditional melodies that he arranged and performed.
