"As is the case with a good number of my recent tonal instrumental works, this piece deals with a friendly tug-of-war between diatonic and chromatic music. The theme one hears in both the Prelude and the Fughetta is based on letters from the name of the flute player who commissioned this work, Peter Sheridan.
