“Recently I have again studied the poetry of Hermann Hesse, the most significant ‘Maulbronnian’. His poems ‘A Toccata from Bach’ and ‘Playing the Flute’ inspired me to write the present piece. In ‘Playing the Flute’ he expressed his idea about the essence of music: It is ‘time made aesthetically perceivable. And in the present, to be sure.
