There are 205 figures but many chorales are present in two, three and four different fugal realizations, resulting in the number of chorale melodies being less than 120. In the sequence of titles, a certain relationship with the liturgical year from Advent to Pentecost is evident, as well as some devotional or catechistic chorales. It seems to be a school for the liturgical organist of improvisation styles for chorale preludes. The clear and tidy handwriting with a well-defined layout would seem to suggest that the scribe is not the composer, further confirmed by the absence of some of the first notes of the thematic answers in some cases and in others there is considerable confusion in the text, as will be mentioned in the critical notes.
